We offer a much quicker move than with social housing. We also offer decent affordable independent accommodation. If you no longer need the support on offer in supported accommodation and you are ready to live in independent, general needs accommodation it can be extremely difficult to be rehoused. Traditionally residents in supported housing would be offered council or housing association housing (social housing) when they were ready to Move on. Today however, there is a severe lack of social housing while there are increasing numbers of people on the housing register. Most local Authorities have tens of thousands of people on their hosuing registers and make very few new lets each year meaning even people in high priority are likely to have to wait for many years before being offered a social tenancy.
This means that most residents in supported accommodation are highly unlikely to be offered social housing as Move On. Supported accommodation is temporary (typically around an 18 month amximum stay) meaning people in supported accommodation wont be allowed to wait that long for social housing.
Real Lettings offers a reliable alternative to social housing and can help find you a decent affordable home in the private rented sector as well as support you with your resettlement
.
Local Authorities pay out a lot of money for supported bed spaces in hostels and supported housing making it very costly for these bed spaces to be used by people who are ready to move on and no longer require the support when there are lots of people who need the support.
